I am a novice English instructor and I am not sure what order I should teach the language.

Can someone recommend a place where I can find English grammar broken down into some sort of chronological order so that i can establish a curriculum for my teaching.

I am a private(one on one) teacher living in Montreal.

merci,

P.

  1. I would begin by introducing the separate parts of speech, and go from there.

I STRONGLY suggest this book: http://www.amazon.com/Grammar-Diagram-Un...

It was my coursebook for my grammar course in college, and it was absolutely excellent. I integrated a bit of grammar refresh into my remedial 9th and 11th grade classes this year, and all of my notes and examples came from this book. The students found it all to be very clear and easy to understand.

  2. start with word identification and word forms then move into verbs and conjugation...start with conversational phrases...

  3. Why don't you check the Canadian Language Benchmarks? You can do it at www.language.ca

As for the tenses, normally all books start with the present simple and continuous tenses.

    Good luck!
