English team caught in riots – Cricket News Update
Based on recent happenings, the English cricket team found itself surrounded with charged batons and violent youth, as riots took to the streets of Birmingham, following its sparks in London, where the team awaited its participation in the upcoming third
Test fixture against the Indian tourists on August 10, at the Edgbaston arena.
Initially the violence sparked off earlier this week, on Saturday, when the police was entangled in the controversional death of Mark Duggan, in Tottenham. Following the shooting, the riots then took to the streets, after taking off from Tottenham High Road
in north London, spreading all across the capital as youth took on some violent acts after attacking premises, damaging and stealing property.
As for the English cricketing hosts, the team is currently staying in a hotel in the Birmingham city centre.
Following the violence surrounding the national squad, the team’s pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711, recently stated on a social networking website, “Just seen the rioters in Birmingham fleeing down the main street followed by a load of police in the full get up. What's
going on?”
While the team’s star bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 shared, “Police vans all around Birmingham where we are right now.”
Previously, doubts had erupted over the resumption of the Test series between the two teams, from India’s proceeding Tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
However, based on recent facts, the series will now be resumed on Wednesday, at the Edgbaston stadium in Birmingham, where the English will face the Indian tourists, who recently faced a humiliating, 2-0 defeat at the hands of the hosts.
At the time the violence kicked off, some of the players were said to be out in the city centre. They were then called off by their respective managements and were asked to stay in their hotel rooms, as security too has been raised up for the teams.
“All players are safe and are inside their rooms,” said the Indian cricket team’s manager, Anirudh Chaudhary, speaking to a media channel. However, Chaudhry refused to offer his comments when asked about the resumption of the remaining India’s Tour in England.
