  1. any English-Spanish/Spanish-English dictionary works. Oxford, Larousse and Merriam Webster have good dictionaries.

Even though the accent changes, the words are the same in the different regions of Latin America. Slang words are not in those kinds of dictionaries but you can get along well without using slang.

  2. any dictionary. i'm from Guayaquil-Ecuador and don't worry, they understand when they get to know that you're a tourist, they will help you with the language even if you have a dictionary in your hands.

And if you're lucky, there are a lot of people that may not speak perfect English but will answer you in English.

    Enjoy you're trip!!!
