Buy some Platform 5  Rail Enthusiast number taking books(British Rail pocket books), there are 4 in the series.. or bribe a National Rail staff member, who uses the T.O.P.S. computer system..

I assume you mean British, and not just English. 'Train' numbers mean the reporting numbers of trains, used , for example, by signallers to know the trains originating point and ultimate destination (among other things). Or do you mean 'locomotive' and 'unit' numbers? The site below explains train numbering, I cannot find one which lists all locomotive numbers (it would be very lengthy if it included everything from 1825)

when you mean train numbers what do you actually mean? do you mean ie 87015 loco number  or 1S57 train reporting number?
