I have some medals from the former Soviet Union with Cyrillic writing on them- I can translate some of the letters but some are a mystery. one example is a medal with the word 'SVARA' which translates to 'GLORY' across the top, then the following words are on the medal itself 'SOVIETSKIM POGRAMICHIKAM'

  1. Hi,I will give you a website that will help you translate the items you want to know about. It is (SDI free translation .com)Good Luck.

  2. dictionary.com has a translation tab.  Might try that.

  3. The Rus. word for "glory" is "slava" (Cлава).

I'm guessing that 'SOVIETSKIM POGRAMICHIKAM' is actually "Sovietskim pogranichnikam" (СОВЕТСКИМ ПОГРАНИЧНИКАМ), which means "to the soldiers of the Soviet Border Police".

All in all, "Glory to the Soviet Border Police!"
