Englishman Joe Perry wants to have good results from the upcoming 2011-12 season – Snooker news
The Fen Potter, Joe Perry, is excited for the upcoming 2011-12 season and has said that he is looking forward for some good results.
The 36-year-old Englishman Perry is practising day-in and day-out ahead of the 2011-12 season, which will get underway later in June.
He told the media that previously they used to have only a few tournaments in a year, which was annoying. He said however nowadays there is always a busy schedule, which never allows players to rest, and he liked it a lot. He added he will be prepared and
will join this season with a bang.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “It has usually been September before we get going and I remember one year when I was in the top 16 in the world rankings I didn’t play my first match until the Grand Prix in October. But I’m all in favour of
being busy and I’d much rather have it as it is now rather than a few years ago when there were hardly any tournaments.”
“Hopefully I’ll be prepared and I can play well up there and start the season with a good result,” he added.
Perry, the European Open runner-up in 2001, was also very excited on visiting different countries especially Brazil and Australia, who are going to conduct their first-ever ranking tournaments in 2011.
Perry commented, “Qualifying for Australia is very important for me as well. There are a lot of new places on the calendar this year and the prospect of going to places like Australia and Brazil is really exciting.”
Perry, who will now be stepping into his 20th professional year, added he wants to play in as many countries as possible.
The Englishman, who has now fallen down to the 27th spot in the world rankings, is also aiming to claw his way back up. However, Perry, who has not been able to win a major ranking tournament since the 2008 Championship League, has his primary
focus on winning a tournament this season.
