  1. How does the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect lead to global warming?

Both concepts are pure fantasy so one can link them in any way.

Why do people confuse the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect and problems with the Ozone Layer?

One lie look like the other.  Both stories promoted by the same people, sound the same.  neither true.

What can societies/countries do to limit Global Warming?

Nothing, it is a lie, no matter what is done the people profiting will say it is not enough.

Environmental clean up started over 38 years ago, any real problems have alread been fixed.

  2. Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.  It's like putting a blanket on the Earth.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect, which leads to global warming.

It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

Really good website for more information here:

    http://www.nrdc.org/globalWarming/f101.a...

Lots of numerical scientific data proving it real here:

    http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Ima...

    http://www.ipcc.ch/pdf/assessment-report...

Proof that most scientists think it's real and mostly caused by us here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_...

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu...

Mostly what needs to be done is reduce burning of fossil fuels.

  3. We know that what we call greenhouse gases raise the overall electromagnetic emissivity of the atmosphere. This means for any given temperature differential (between earth and space) the earth will retain more thermodynamic energy (heat).

We know that "greenhouse gases" can raise the overall emissivity because of it's infrared spectra.  These gases (NO2, CO2, H20, etc) will absorb more energy than the normal diatomic atmospheric molecules and atoms (N2, O2, Ar, etc). These molecules absorb new radiation from the sun, and also catch energy radiating from Earth's surface that would otherwise escape into space.

People often confuse it with ozone depletion because they both have to do with the atmosphere, and many do not know the science behind either phenomena.

There is not much we can do to limit it except to conserve.

  4. Check it out the green house gas is not there.. The CO2 was cleaned up by plants , The plants have done a great job.

Then Methane has disappeared and no one told U...

  5. 1. it contributes very little - CO2 only absorbs in a few infrared wavelengths, there is already enough CO2 to absorb those wavelengths completely, more CO2 will add little, if any to the greenhouse effect, greenhouse gases are  over 95% water, which absorbs at many infrared wavelengths.

    2. AGW proponents use a lot of obfuscation, it's not surprising that people are confused and ill-informed. I suppose that more ultraviolet light would mean more  total energy reaching earth's surface, but  doubt it's a big contribution. ozone is created by ultraviolet light, so there would be a "negative feedback " effect, like anything else in nature. Because if "positive feedback" effects prevail in a system, the system would rapidly go to an extreme, and stay there.

    3. assuming that our energy infrastructure is going to be rendered too expensive for anyone except the wealthy to use it, It'd be a good idea to invest in a few acres of farmland, so that our descendants can  at least eke out a living as dirt-poor subsistence farmers

Notice that clear nights cool off rapidly, cloudy or humid nights do not. think of nights in the desert. This is because water vapor is 95% of the greenhouse effect. AGW proponents believe that an increase in CO2 will result in a positive feedback effect.

here is a good link, that explains the skeptics side of the issue. you don't have to be an expert to  recognise that AGW proponents are full of BS.

Their main argument seems to be " just believe what we say that the experts say"

    http://www.climate-skeptic.com/2007/09/t...

This link explains how the famous "hockey stick" graph, so crucial to their argument, was discreditted, and how the IPCCs "peer review"

    was discreditted along with it.

  6. Well, the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect or Anthropogenic Global Warming, is thought to be caused by increased contributions of Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere.

Many Pro-AGW people incorrectly identify Carbon Dioxide and the strongest and most prevalent Greenhouse or Global Warming Gas.

The strongest and most prevalent Global Warming Gas is actually Water Vapor.  It accounts for upwards of 95% of the atmosphere and 90% of the warming.  Water Vapor is usually left out of the discussions in favor of Carbon Dioxide.

Why people confuse AGW which is supposedly from Carbon Dioxide with the Ozone Layer which is supposedly from CFCs is unclear.  Please note that the Ozone Hole has reached sizes larger than before the CFC ban on several occasions.

If societies / countries thought it was real and were serious about limiting Global Warming...they wouldn't have granted exemptions to India and China...the worlds largest populations and growing.

Also, if Enhanced Greenhouse Effect or Anthropogenic Global Warming were real...why did they rename it to Climate Change...I guess the temperatures of late haven't been cooperating.

  7. AGW- is caused by the massive release of c02 by humans over the last 150 years in ever increasing amounts, scientific consensus is completely behind this theory in spite what is posted here, the easiest to confirm their comments are rubbish is to go to 'ANY' real science site you will find only info on the problem and what we should do to try and fix it. You will find nothing about other planet warming, conspiracy nonsense, planet X and the many other silly things that get posted here

Ozone- is/was caused by the release of CFC's which was used in pressure packs and aircon and many large fire suppression systems (halon) its use is now banned or highly restricted and has been since the mid 90's
