  1. Talk to the Navy. WIth your parent's permission, you can be placed in the Navy DEP program and have a guaranteed job. I don't know if the AF allows upcoming seniors to be Dep-ed. Or you can just wait. You know?

  2. It's a huge advantage to sign up now. Your are much more likely to get one of your top job choices. You have more say in when you leave. The entire year you spend in DEP counts toward your inactive reserve service obligation. Whoever said the Navy has delayed enlistment and the Air Force doesn't is wrong. You will have a stress free senior year when it comes to trying to figure out what to do when you graduated.

  3. nothing is better, the whole point is to get basic training out of the way the summer after your junior year in high school and begin your contract (for reserves and guard), it's too late for you to attend basic this summer so you might as well wait to sign-up. It only makes sense to sign early if you are a reservist or guard member because your time starts the day you swear in, if you are going active duty just wait, it won't help to sign early.

  4. This WILL help with your job selection! It is based on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

The once a month is NOT DRILL. it is just you getting together will all the other DEP'rs and the recruiter to work out and go over any questions you might have.

Expect to run your mile and a half, do some pushups, and do some situps. other than that it is just kicking it back with the other DEP'rs and answering some questions. Its nothin serious, couple hours tops.

  5. biggest piece of advice: PICK YOUR JOB!!!! DO NOT LET THE RECRUITER TELL YOU OTHERWISE.....YOU CAN PICK WHAT YOU WANT AND BE GUARANTEED IT...you might just have to wait a bit....it's worth it though I swear to allah
