Dodgers: Do you think Picking up Manny Was a Good Idea?

Pirates: Are you guys fine that you Traded Bay?

Well the Dodgers get hit bat for nothing so it can't be a bad deal.

I'm not a Dodgers fans but that's my take.

all we gave up was a underachieving  Andy La Roche and some other unknown for Man Ram so yes it was a great deal

So why did i read all over that the Pirates got screwed? They got a plethora of young tallent. They are years away from contending anyways, bye the time they would be ready to have a fighting chance they would have lost Bay to free agency or he would be to old to make a difference. I say way to go Pirates, & LA solved a short term problem, everybody made out...except the red soxs

The pirates picked up for great young players. Their are some(Moss and Laroche) and two pitchers that can improve and be part of the team soon. Its fine that Bay was traded because he was upset with ownership in Pittsburgh and he we wern't winning with him anyway.

Rick gave you a great answer from the Dodger perspective, although some d**n annoying Dodger fans want to sit and  complain about this trade. We got the guy for practically nothing and they still want to say it was a bad deal. LaRoche was not panning out the way he was supposed to and we have DeWitt to play third after this year. Blake was looking much better than Andy, Andy lights up minor league pitching and cant seem to translate that into the majors, where as Blake can handle the major league pitching and has great defense.

Yeah, I do think that picking up Manny was a good idea, we needed a good bat in the lineup.  Am I happy with it? I'm ok with it.

As a Dodgers fan, I see it as we're renting Manny for two months. We've got a HUGE bat in the middle of our line up now. And all we gave up was a AAA 3B who hasn't lived up to his potential and a pitcher coming off TJ surgery. Joe should be able to handle Manny being Manny, he had prima donnas in NY...

i live in l.a. but i think pittsburg might have gotten the best deal. with boston they got an all star in jason bay but the two biggest all stars from small markets that i can remember, richie sexon and lyle overbay, have not done a thing in normal size markets plus they are paying the rest of mannys contract. . so my prediction on bay is he will crumble under the big lights of boston. here in l.a. we got a future hall of famer without giving up a thing. lets all be honest at the end of the year manny will be signing a new contract with a new team. all we have him for is two months and mannys big bat might get us past arizona but really who are we kidding here we suck! as for pittsburg they gave up bay but as i can remember his contract will be up soon. they got 4 players. 1 has been a top prospect for boston for a couple years and andy laroche has a brother on the pirates. for awhile people said laroche would be a great dodger 3rd baseman and i think playing with his big brother might be good for him.......... p.s. ichiro for president!

Well Manny is a good bat, but he is a lot to handle.  I think that since he's only going to be in LA for two months, it won't be a huge problem.  But he is a drama queen, and will like Hollywood.  Other than that, yeah, he'll contribute a lot of hits to the team.

The Pirates picked up some good prospects.  I especially like Brandon Moss.  Bay is an excellent player, but the Pirates were right to focus on the future on the organization.
