Enrico Burzi, Andrea Grasselli advance in qualifiers – Bluexpress.com Tennis Cup 2011 CH
Second qualifying seed, local Enrico Burzi advanced in the qualifying draw of the Bluexpress.com Tennis Cup 2011 at Todi, Italy after enjoying a straight sets victory over Anton Zaytsev. Burzi riding the cheers of the local crowd
secured an easy 6-4, 6-1 victory over the lower ranked Russian in less than ninety minutes.
Winning the toss, Burzi opened serve and cruised to put himself onto the scoreboard followed closely by the Russian. What followed next was a pair of breakpoint exchanges between the two after long rallies and several deuces. Standing
at four games each, Burzi held his own serve to go 5-4 in the set before capitalising on the Russian’s expensive double fault in the ninth game to clinch the first set 6-4.
With no aces or double faults, Burzi hit an acceptable 61 percent on his first serve as he clinched a total of 33 of 59 points to go one up in the set score.
Carrying over his form and confident with one his one set lead, Burzi came out firing in the second set, completely dominating his opponent. Although the two kicked off with a successful hold of serve each, it turned out to be
the last time Zaytsev made his way onto the scoreboard. Standing at a 3-1 lead, Burzi broke his opponent in the fourth and sixth game to clinch a 5-1 lead before serving out the set for a breadstick victory.
Advancing in the qualies, Burzi now moves on ahead to play wildcard compatriot, Andrea Grasselli.
Grasselli moved on ahead in the draw after destroying compatriot Filippo Borella in straight sets. Taking exactly an hour, Grasselli secured a 6-1, 6-1 win over his higher ranked compatriot.
The victor hit only one ace and double fault capitalising on his opponent’s expensive seven double faults as he sailed his way to victory. Converting six of eight breakpoint opportunities to his advantage, Grasselli won a total
of 57 of 86 points to seal his straight sets victory.
In the stampede of local wins, Lorenzo Giustino also made his way into the second round of the qualifying draw after securing a 6-1, 6-3 win over compatriot Danielle Chiurulli.
