Genoa President, Enrico Preziosi, has revealed that they might not sign any more players in the ongoing January transfer window.
The Rossoblu recently signed striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Gilardino-c4324, from Fiorentina, and were rumoured to be closing in on signing Cagliari’s Davide Biondini. Preziosi confirmed of his team’s interest in the midfielder, but insisted that
they are far from agreeing a deal for him as yet. The President admitted that if Cagliari decides to sell him, he will immediately get the midfielder.
The Marassi chief insisted that his team’s winter shopping is over, but if they continue performing like they did over the weekend, he might have to dip in the market again.
While talking to the reporters, Preziosi said,
“We are following Biondini at this time. We are there on edge - if Cagliari freed him then we’d take him now. The market is essentially closed, but if there was another bad performance like the one against Cagliari then we would
be ready to intervene through the market.”
Genoa suffered a 3-0 humiliation against Cagliari at the Stadio Sant’Elia recently. To make matters worse for the Griffin, their influential midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juraj-Kucka-c20099, injured himself in the first-half of the game. Genoa might make
midfield reinforcements with Kucka out for an indefinite period. The Rossoblu are also linked with A.C Milan attacker, Stephan El-Shaarawy, and Houssine Kharja.
The club sporting director, Stefano Capozucca, recently said that the club are looking to sign a new midfielder.
“I’m not hiding the fact that we are looking for a new midfielder. We are looking to give Malesani the elements that he needs to improve the team.” Added the sporting director
Genoa have had a topsy-turvy 2011/12 season thus far, and are placed 12th in the league table. The Marassi club recently appointed Pasquale Marino as the new head coach, who replaced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Malesani.
The Rossoblu will host Udinese in their next game on Sunday, January 15th, 2012. They have conceded nine goals in their last two league games.
