The Atletico Madrid supremo finds it difficult to forgive fan-favourite Sergio Aguero for forcing his move out of the Vicente Calderon.
The end of last season saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero declaring his wish to move away from the Spanish capital for pastures new. English Premier League side, Manchester City, approached the striker with briefcases full of cash and the Argentine decided to move
out.
Fast forward eight months and the parting of ways have provided to be fruitful for the two parties involved. Aguero has found a new home in the blue half of Manchester, while Atletico Madrid now have another South American more than capable of filling
the Argentine’s shoes, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276.
Aguero still has a good standing in the hearts of Atleti faithful who will remember for his composure in front of goal, however, club supremo has differing views about him.
Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, is still haunted by the outwardly claims made by Aguero in his final days at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon and showed his distaste for the manner in which the striker forced his transfer.
Reflecting on the situation, Cerezo stated that he continues to harbour affection for the Argentinean, but believes he could have left the club in less acrimonious circumstances, which would not have hurt the fans.
"We have a great affection for him, he was the fans' favourite player of all time."
"He did not leave Atletico the right way and it was his fault that this did not happen.”
"He could have left perfectly well and with the support of the fans, but up to this day, we have not heard anything from him."
Atletico Madrid are prime contenders to progress to the Europa League quarter-finals after claiming a hard earned 3-1 victory against Besiktas in the first leg of their tie. Cerezo believes his side will go far in the second tier European club competition.
"I am convinced that we will progress," Cerezo added. "We must take precautions, though, just like we would against any club who play in Europe, because they have great players and anything can happen.”
"But if we play like we have been doing we will not have any problem."
The second leg between Los Rojiblancos and the Turkish side is proposed for Thursday, March 15th.
