Liverpool’s Jose Enrique is set to miss out on the action for a couple of months after tearing his hamstring in a league match on Sunday, assistant manager Colin Pascoe has revealed.
The Spanish International, who has been one of the more notable performers for the Merseyside club recently, sustained the injury at the Loftus Road during the Reds 3-0 win over bottom ranked Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.
The defender was seen limping close to final quarter, and was substituted immediately by Colin Pascoe, who was carrying out the managerial duties in the absence of Brendan Rodgers. The Anfield chief was reported to be suffering from a fever.
Anyhow, while speaking to the media after the match, the Liverpool number two confirmed that Enrique could miss out on the action for a couple of months.
The assistant manager praised the Spaniard for his valuable contribution in the game, and admitted that his absence could prove to be a huge setback for the Reds.
“Unfortunately it looks like he's got a tear in his hamstring,” he said.
“He was terrific today, absolutely superb, and the way he's been performing these last couple of months has been a joy to watch.”
“It's a shame, and hopefully he's not out for too long.”
The 26-year old was initially condemned to the bench by manager, Brendan Rodgers, in the preliminary stages of the campaign, and was issued a warning to improve his game or risk losing his place permanently.
However, the defender has responded emphatically since then, and has represented the Reds in 16 matches in all competitions this season. He also put up some man of the match performances during this period.
