Question:

Ensemble question for dancer/ballet..what do you think?!?

I am starting Adult ballet classes after being away from dance for 20 years. The company that has the classes said there isn't a standard dress code for adults just as long as it's dance clothes...and the instructor can see my legs.

So I have a light pink leotard, and was wondering if black tights w/black slippers will look stupid or ok enough? I plan to wear a small black wrap as well since I have some tattoo's I will cover up while dancing.

ALSO-what do you think of the footless tights I see now? Should I get those or just regular old tights.

  1. I would have to agree that if you wear the black tights over your leotard it will look fine.  Also I think footless tights would look better if you fold them to your mid-calf, but this is how the dancers at my studio wear their tights the majority of the time, so I'm not sure about other studios.

  2. If you're wearing the tights over the leotard, that'll look fine. I personally prefer footless or convertible tights for class, and think that footless looks best in black. Aside from anything else, black canvases with crossover elastics look great on bare feet!

  3. Hm... I don't have a lot of experience with this type of dress code, usually the places I've been to have a strict dress code.  However, I can tell you that with schools like this, you'll look fine.  Good for you, covering up the tattoos.  That was a professional move and I respect you for it.  I would try convertibles.  Really, they give you options as to whether you want to wear them like footless tights or like non-footless tights.  I agree with blue.

Good luck!  Feel free to contact me with further questions.♥
