Question:

Entering the public school system?

My sister whom I have not seen in 20 years recently left me with her sixteen-year-old CONJOINED twins. My husband says we should put them in school but I am not so sure about that. And even if I wanted to, would a public school allow them? What about a private one?

  1. The schools would accept them, but they might have problems with other students.

Has every medical solution to the problem been explored? I would take them to Johns Hopkins or another famous hospital.

  2. Of course they would allow them....  They are 16 and do have thoughts and minds and I think you should talk to them about what they want.  That really is a decision that they should be part of....  Where have they been educated up until this point?

  3. Conjoined or not conjoined, I would home school them. If you are able to do it, then do it . Look what has become of our public (government) schools. It is crazy.

Check to see (google) if there is a home school organization in your area. They could give you more information. (the laws are different state to state)

    Best of luck

  4. i  have 3 children all under school age and i've already started homeschooling my 3 & 5 yr old it is very hard but it is worth it but it is different if there not your kids and if u work i dont know how u would do that but if u could that would be my # 1 option to u they have alkinds of support groups and i even got abook from the library called HOMESCHOOL YOUR CHILD FOR FREE BY LAURAMAERY GOLD & JOAN M. ZIELINSKI. good luck & GODbless

  5. Where have they been attending school? If they are 16 years old, they would have been attending something or homeschooling.

Are you prepared for sending them to school, if they have been kept at home?  Are they prepared for the cruelty of other children?

My son is 9, he went to public school until he was in grade 2.  The children were mean, and just down right cruel to him.  He was nothing extra special, like no reason to pick on him...but they did.  They packed his ears full of dirt, he had undergone surgery on them for hearing loss... that was not fun trying to get the dirt out them.  They would cut his face with a stick or twig, they would pick on him daily.  He was not anything extra ordinary in terms of looks physically.

The twins however, they could get some serious back lash from the cruel immaturity of children.  It takes away from the education, and the focus changes to daily coping and survival.  Not how they can learn or succeed in school.

Private schools can be just as cruel.  But, are worth checking out.  Children are children, it doesn't matter if mom and day pay the taxes to have them in a public school or pay a tuition to have them in a Private school (which I have also done).  Children are children.

Best of everything for your future, I am sure sorry that your sister is saddling you with this.  She needs serious prayers.
