Question:

Entertaining a bearded dragon?

I'm moving my beardie to her new home. It will have her branch, a hollowed out half log, her dishes, and a sand substrate (she's eating 1" crickets and has been on paper until now).

The thing I'm worried about is that except for meals she just sprawls on her branch. I'd like to give her something to do to occupy her time. I have a few ideas but would like some feedback.

Might parrot toys help? I'm thinking about something with a small mirror so she's less likely to launch herself into the glass to get at her reflection. Those leaps are pretty spectacular and I worry about her getting injured.

I know that a companion isn't a good idea unless you're absolutely certain both are female, are the same size, and can get along. Mine isn't quite an adult yet and all the beardies around here are either babies or full adults. We also think that she might be a GG and don't know how much growing she has left to do.

She also doesn't show an intrest in checking out hiding spots.

  1. I take my beardie out at least once a day to run around and he usually ends up in the windowsill to get some real sun.  He loves noise and action so we moved him to our living room.  He loves to watch tv and we leave the radio on for him when we are gone.  They also love baths.  If you have the time you wont need to get him any toys.

Also put a real rock in the tank so he can naturally file his own nails!

  2. get another female beardie about the same size

  3. For one never put BDs together, and most of the time if if she wants to play or run she will there is not alot of things to get them to play with. They love ot run and so if you have the room they will  do just that but for the most part they will stay on there basking area and chill but if you really want something for her to play with then if you have the room put more things for her to climb on,and its just me but I would take her off the sand like substrate and put her on tile but it is just me everyone is different.Hope I helped and good luck.
