  1. Don't entertain just be yourself.  Kids like to share and talk just like adults.  Try talking about dolls or do some coloring with them or read to them. Simply be interested in what they are doing and friendship and fun will follow.  But if you are really stuck.

Here's a great website full of ideas for you. . .

    www.todayisfun.com

They have a lot of great ideas, for all kinds of kids even shy ones.

And you should check it every day, because they are always adding new ideas.

  2. it depends on them. maybe read to them? crafting? or let them play in the garden. let them choose what to do.

  3. There are some cool crafts on dltk-kids.com.  Familyfun.com has some great things, too.  Right about now they should have their 100 days of summer activities up.  My kids and I had a blast with those last summer (then, they were 3rd grade and kindergarten).

  4. Play house or school maybe, little girls love those! Or you could do some sort of craft project, like making paper bag puppets.  If it's a nice day, you could draw with chalk or play hopscotch.  And, if all else fails, watch a movie!

  5. I first started babysitting when I was 14, been going fer two years now, and I remember my first gig perfectly.

The boy was in preschool and sitting him was easssssssy. He was big on legos, so all i did was play war against him with them.

Follow them around is my first advice! Most of the time, when i sit...they can occupy themselves without yer help...considering thats what they do most of the time even with the parents home. If they are computer fans, you can keep them on there for a while...watch tv, draw with them, go outside with them. You can even go on a walk.

Over the two years ive noticed a lot that the kids dont always need you to be around. Well, that more so depends on if you have a good friendship with them or not. I have one girl I sit for and she likes to be with me always....but then others I sit for like to play by themselves or their siblings.

OH! One last one! You can always invite their friends over and have them hang together! =) More of a idea when yer older and can handle more...but you catch my drift ;D

    Hope this helps!

  6. coloring

    an age appropriate movie

    making jewelry

    baking cookies

    playing dress up

  7. Ask them what they like to do. Take some arts and crafts stuff and have them make a card for Father's Day, or a Love You card for mommy. Depending on the neighborhood and time, go for a walk or take something to play with outside, like a ball or frisbee. You can get together with them and make a list of stuff that they want to do and do the activities accordingly. During lunch time make up stuff to eat and let htem help make stuff. Ask the parent(s) if you can bake something with the kids or make rice krspy treats or something to that extent where there is nothing dangerous for the kids. Also have them do chores but have fun with it. When I babysat a little one we would race to see who could clean the fastest. The mom was raising the little alone so I figured the child and I could help clean the house for the mom. It was so much fun and I miss it!!! Good luck with the girlies. Also have them give you a 'secret' nickname. The girl I watched was Kuri, short for her name. She loved it. Hope this helps. Mander B.

  8. WEll,since they are little girls,they like barbies,coloring books,and little toys.Try those things.

    Good luck!!!

  9. Make Cookies or cake or something they can help decorate.  Or something they can help make like Root Beer Floats.  When I was your age and babysat I would bring a craft bag.  It was filled with stuff to make jewelry, like beads and string, coloring tools, crafts, construction paper, paper for oragami, dress up stuff, and so on.  Bring music and teach them a dance or have a dance party where they can just have fun.  Bring boa's and fun hats too!  Bring a camera (polaroid was the best cause then they could keep the pictures)  and take pictures of them and have them decorate little foam frames.  Play games to get to know each other.

I would take them on walks and talk about any animals we cam across.  Or we would bake something if we had time.  Once I got to know them then I would have themes when I came over.  After you babysit make notes on them in a journal.  So you know what kind of food they do or don't like or music they like.  What their favorite color was.

If they are shy it might be hard at first but if you get them laughing then they will open up!  Most important have fun!  Be safe but have fun!!!

  10. Congrats;) the first time babysitting is always fun, and babysitting for new families is too.

Just spend as much time as you can with the kids. For grade-schoolers you could play hide and seek, watch a movie ( together! ), Play cards ( simple games ), go for a walk ( if its okay with the parents), or have a picnic! If you have a big beach towel or sheet bring one.. then make lunches at their house and walk to that park or by the pool.

Bring your swimsuit just in case! And sunscreen! Maybe it won't be bad and you can take them swimming.

Bring a disposable camera and take pictures of them dressed up in different outfits.. and then get the pictures developed and bring them next to time you babysit. You could make a book out of them.

Or have them write you little letters saying what they want to do the next time you babysit. And have them put them in your bag ( read them when you get home ).

Bring nail polish and paint their nails, sell lemonade in their driveway, or just run around in the backyard;)

Just make sure that their occupied and they'll have nice time. Try not to be too strict either, because when the parents get home they almost always asked the kids what happened while they were gone, not the babysitter.

    Have fun:)

  11. Get craft supplies and make things, make activity books, games, jewelry whatever they want to make.

  12. when u get there ask them if their are some things that they would want to do b/c alot of kids like to play with the toys or things that they already have at home
