Enthalpy and stoichiometry problem!

it tells me to consider the combustion below which is:

ch4 2O2 --> CO2 2H2O (enthalpy change is -890 KJ/mol)

and it ask for me to figure out how much energy is produced when 0.92 moles methane are burned.. do i have to balance that equation first?

  1. To do ANY stoichiometry problem you MUST have a balanced equation. The one shown above is already balanced.

    0.92 moles CH4 x (-890 kJ / mole CH4) = -820 kJ
