Entries for the 2011 Formula 1 season released
So far the current scenario of new signings and changes within the teams for 2011 season was uncertain and there was a lot of confusion and unrelenting rumours regarding the issue. Therefore, Formula 1’s governing body the International Automobile Federation
(FIA) decided to publish an official entry list for the 2011 Formula 1 world championship season.
According to the report released by the FIA, 12 teams have signed up for the 2011 Formula 1 season and six of them are yet to confirm their full driver line-ups including Force India, Toro Rosso, HRT and Virgin racing team.
However, the real shocker in this report was that neither Renault nor Williams have announced their full drivers’ line-up for 2011. Robert Kubica will keep his seat as expected while Vitaly Petrov is yet to be confirmed. Rubens Barrichello has been confirmed
by Williams and the team has still not issued an official signing for Pastor Maldonado, which is expected to happen anytime soon.
Sebastian Vettel is listed in the No. 1 car as the reigning world champion while his teammate Mark Webber is in the No. 2 entry. Red Bull was able to secure the constructors’ title as well and it seems that they have confirmed officially that Mark Webber
will stay with Red Bull for the 2011 Formula 1 season despite of his differences with Sebastian Vettel.
Besides that, Sergio Perez Mendoza is expected to debut in Formula 1 next year alongside Kamui Kobayashi at Sauber.
Other than that, the report also stated that McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes GP are going to keep the same drivers’ line-up for 2011 including Red Bull. There will be 12 teams and no team has withdrawn from the sport despite the rumours that one of the 3 new
teams might not compete for another year.
However, it was quite a relief for Felipe Massa’s fans since there were a lot of rumours that his seat at Ferrari was under threat after a disastrous season that he had in 2010. It is expected that Mercedes might be more competitive in 2011 with formula
one fans anticipating 2011 season to be more promising than this season.
