Entry process for women's US Open starts
The 2012 US Open, which is going to be played from July 2-8, at Blackwolf Run, Kohler Wisconsin, is going to feature a strong field, comprising a number of big names in women’s golf.
In order to name the list of players expected to join the field, United States Golf Association (USGA) has put out an application form on its websites.
Players are required to fill up the form according to the stated guidelines and make confirmations regarding their participation.
Officials of the United States Golf Association said that the process to make confirmations for the tournament is simple, as everything is mentioned online for interested players.
They further said that the field will be rich this year, as hundreds of players are expected to play one of the most prestigious events in women’s golf.
The officials said that the deadline for the application form is May 2, and all the players are required to confirm their participation before the date expires.
The officials added that some players have informally confirmed their participation, as these are the ones who are known to show up at the event.
Men’s US Open is also being staged from June 14-17, at The Olympic Club, San Francisco. The last event went well, as there were over 8300 entries for participation.
It is worth mentioning that the 2009 event played at Bethpage Black was even better as the USGA received 9086 entries for it.
Although the field is yet to be finalised, analysts have started predicting about the possible winners of the tournament.
It is expected that the current world number one Yani Tseng will bag surprises on the back of her magic form.
Tseng is fired up after her impressive victory at the Honda LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) and she is seeking to add the US Open title to her profile.
Since the Open is typically open to professional and amateur players, there will also be rising stars making efforts on the course.
So far, American players have been dominant throughout the history of the US Open.
However, in recent months, players from Asian countries have emerged as tough contenders, posing a threat to the American rivals.
