Question:

Entry to Costa RIca?

I know that to enter Costa Rica, you need to show a return ticket, but I'm wanting to go to Costa Rica, then go on to Panama by bus, and return to Europe from Panama City. Will Costa Rica let me in without a return flight?

Thanks in advance.

  1. You should be fine as they rarely ask to see the exit ticket.  However I advise at least having an itenery to show them if they ask.

A little trick that works wonders is make a reservation with an airline without paying and say you will pay in a weeks time and then travel to Costa Rica and show them that reservation should they ask.  The airline normally holds a reservation for a few days before you need to pay or decide not to travel.

  2. mate you should be fine... ive been to costa rica a few times and have never had to show a return ticket... crossing the costa rican/panama border will be more hassle, simply because the town at which you will probably cross at (paso canosas) is a dump and people will always try and rip you off, saying that they'll help you out for a  fee of course!! All you really need to do is get an exit stamp from the costa rican desk and an entry stamp at the panama desk and have proof of funds (i.e a visa card etc..)

Theres nothing on the otherside of the border so you'll have to get a bus/taxi on to David where i doubt you'll want to stay long....

Go the santa catalina --cheap friendly nice beaches and amazing surf - if youre into that kind of stuff.

Good luck and try not to spend all your money in the casinos in panama city

  3. nope, you don't need a return ticket. don't worry about it. have fun!

  4. You should be fine.

On all my trips to Costa Rica I have never had to show my return ticket. I have not heard of that being a requirement. If they ask, show your ticket flying out of Panama.

That being said, taking a bus to Panama is going to be a misurable pain in the butt...

  5. i think  u  have to ask this  question here  in  YA en español :

  6. It is the Airline that you fly into Costa Rica on that may enforce this rule. I have had American force me to buy a return ticket before they would let me board the flight.

Now I always buy a cheap bus ticket to Panama or Nicaragua to give them showing I am leaving the country.

I have never heard of anyone being asked in Costa Rica for their return ticket
