I sent a letter informing the Property Management Company of a few issues including mold which they received Friday. I got a call Monday from the woman there and she asked a bunch of questions and then let me know she had to get people together to get out here. During the conversation....she completely walked around and ignored the "mold" issue which was one of several but the biggest concern as I have 2 small children. Well we discovered mold when we first moved in under the carpet in the mst bedroom...all they did was caulk outside of house and then place a drying agent over the moldy area and caulk the carpet back down. We were assured the issue was taken care of which is why we stayed. (cont)

  1. First of all, as others said, do not withhold your rent.  That will only complicate your case.  Most states (possibly all of them) do require that a dwelling be safe to live in.  Mold is not a safe condition and, with that, you can probably move out before the end of your lease.

Search your state records for Tenant laws and possibly even contact the housing authority in your area for free legal advice.  No one should be forced to live in an unsafe environment.

    Good luck with that.

  2. Search for  tenant rights in your state....I entered State of XX tenant rights and it pulled up a state goverment site regarding tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities.
