Environmental Engineering?

Question

Ok i am very interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency topics which are included in environmental engineering but those i counted and may be carbon management are the only topics i am really passionate and what i wanna work in the area of Env. Engineering, otherwise neither i have a need nor will for Env. Engineering... My question is if any other major or minor is needed in order to reach my goal?

and which countries(in Europe+US+Canada) would offer reasonable job+research opportunities for me

Some chemical / process engineering subjects will help, in Canada , try Alberta province, they are in need for engineers, and they offer good money
