My friend and i are strongly against global warming and ways to destroy our planet. However,we use alot of hair products.

We have just discovered that it is negatively effecting the earth.

We are ashamed we didnt know this earlier, and are both willing to give up hair products for enviromental reasons.

We want to know if anyone has discovered a environment friendly hairspray, gel,or such like.

If anyone does know something like that, please share it with us.

And if you have a link to maybe a website,it would be kindly appreciated if you gave it to us.

:]

Thank you sooo much.

  1. you can use natural, home-made shampoos and conditioners. think if you truly need all the stuff that you see in hair saloons. cant you survive without them? I heard that conditioners wont do anything to damaged hair tips, they wont repair the hair. if its true or not, I rather prevent hair from damaging, so I avoid sun or wear a hat, avoid sea water, i stopped using a hair dryed ages ago.

home-made shampoos are thousands of years old. humans loved shiny hair. mango, walnuts, oils, are good for hair. I'm using walnut oil, except its quite expensive and hair are oily if you put on too much. there's plenty of recipes on the internet to make a home-made shampoo and conditioner. they are not effective as those modern ones, while they still give you shiny and soft hair.

there are also companies that sell natural products. they dont use all those chemicals, they simply use natural ingredients. if a product is marked with "bio", then it contains natural ingredients and those ingredients - plants were growing in a natural way, less pesticide and all those chemicals they spray on plants.

you will hear skeptics about global warming. if it is happening or not, we do know that pollution already kills thousands of people worldwide.

  2. Sometimes when I go to like hair stores because my mom is a hair dresser i see spray that doesn't put that much chemicals in the air. They are a little bit pricy though because what isn't that's friendly to the enviroment!! I don't understand that! You might be able to find some when you go to your hairdresser. If you can't find any just try to use less and that is good forthe enviroment just by cutting back!!

  3. One of the best ways to keep your hair eco friendly (and in better shape) is to keep your natural color, and get a haircut that works with your hair type, so less product is needed to get it to look good. If you have curly hair, let it be curly instead of trying to flatten it out. IF you have straight hair, let it be straight instead of trying to pump it up.

Remember also that heat styling is a frivolous use of electricity for the most part. And who makes all those appliances like blowdryers, curling irons, straighteners? They are cheap, relatively disposable products...and the people who make them probably don't make a very good living esp if they work overseas.

Pay attn to packaging. Recycled glass or plastic bottles are great. Metal caps are good. Large quantities means less packaging, and it shouldn't need a bunch of seals, ribbons, papers and shrink wrap on it. You also may not want all the products in a set. Just buy what you need.

    Etc.

You should be able to find a good selection of products at mothernature.com, at Whole Foods, or at any other health food store. The good news if you are used to salon products is that the eco-friendly products are about the same price and very high quality, usually concentrated so you don't need as much as a cheap product.

Also use LESS products, as in a fewer number of products and less of each.

Get familiar with the terminology. Cruelty free, no VOC, organic, etc.

  4. Oh, you discovered that, did you? You fancy yourself a scientist? Or did someone just tell you that? This over-priced "eco friendly" c**p is made so they can make money, and so you can feel good about yourself.
