Environmental prob?

I have a topic for a debate that the teacher assinged me which i dont know where to start with. The topic is on "going green" .... should companies receive extensive tax benifits for going enviromently freindly... (I represent the con side of the agrument) ...

Can you please provide some negative points about this or ideas/themes i can research ????

  1. There is no consensus among scientists tat global warming even exists.


  2. All scientists agree that it is happening. The only ones that say it isn't are the ones that are being paid by a company that pollutes!

  3. Let's say we pay power companies to build hydroelectric dams.  Think of all that land that was forest but is now just water.  You've destroyed the CO2 (trees) plus water absorbs sunlight.

  4. You could argue that the financial benefits they receive from savings in energy costs and public relations should be enough.

    It should be done as a service to the community where the company is housed and its employees live.  

    A nasty or polluted environment can lead to higher health costs, lost work days  and reduced production.  It has to be tied back to financial benefit somehow.
