Environmental topics=]?

i need to write a 50 page research paper on any envioronmental issue that i want fo my environmental tech class. Im not sure what i want to do though, i cant think of anything. It needs to be an topic that is a problem in the environment.

I do know that i want it to be involved with animals, nature, oceanlife, and possibly captive animals like in a zoo.

It also need to be something that i can do related volunteer work with, and a seperate project.

Im a junior in high school so it has to be possible, like no traveling far places. lol, it is supposed to be something that we can go do hands on learning with. And possibly internships.

and i live in ohio if that helps.

i can only offer you some general ideas - hope they may help you generate some of your own....

* non-biodegradable waste - disposal & ways to recycle. short & long-term effects on nature.

* industrial/nuclear waste disposal - in oceans/landfills/in the atmosphere - and their effect on sea-life, plant-life, air...

* endangered animal species - due to human activity - indiscriminate killing for meat/skin/teeth/medicinal value...measures to stop insensitive killing & educate public

*  indiscriminate felling of trees to clear land for human residential / commercial purposes.

* effects of urbanization on humans, wild life, pets, birds, nature....and how they have had to adapt or perish.

* pollution due to vehicles - gaseous/particulate. effect on breathing, etc. too.

* continued use of aerosols - effect on ozone layer, global warming, etc

finally,

* a culture of "use and throw" - increased burden on nature ....
