Saddleback College in Mission Viejo is the ONLY community college in our nation that has bachelor degree level courses in Environmental Studies at the community college level.  That is one place you can start.

Unfortunately, except for Nature Conservancy perhaps, there are few groups dedicated to actively restoring habitat for nature's benefit.  Sierra Club is an utter waste of time due to infiltration by the lumber, mining and manufacturing interests, and its political infighting.
