Or do you side with most economists, who argue that some pollution is better for society than none at all.

  1. It`s impossible to eliminate all pollution. Without certain pollution we would not have trees and plants. They need it to survive and in return give us oxygen and food to survive.

Earth itself creates pollution, volcanoes for one. If we didn`t have them we would not be here. The earth would have blown up eons ago from excess pressure buildup. It would be floating in space as billions of asteroids and meteors.

We need balance between being sterile and a little dirty.

  2. In theory sure I agree with them, elimiinating pollution is a good thing.

In practice however it's simply not technologically or economically possible at the moment.

  3. Why would any pollution be good for society?  I'm pretty sure that most people would love to live in a clean world with no pollution.

  4. LOL!  What we call pollution also occurs naturally.  What we need to be doing is minimizing our un-natural contributions!  Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle...don't believe the Anthropogenic Global Warming lie!

  5. That depends on how you define pollution. To us, carbon dioxide is pollution and oxygen is good. To a photosynthesizing plant, it is the other way around. Are nitrates good or bad? It depends on where they are. On crops or in the ocean or reacting in the air to form nitric acid? If you define pollution as any departure from purity, the question is moot because we can never achieve it. Some environmentalist may not know that but ecologists do.

  6. How can pollution be good for society? Its bad, thats what pollution means.

And yes, environmentalists and most people in general want to stop pollution.

No pollution at all is far better than some.

  7. gooo environmentalists! !!!! no more pollution!!!!

  8. No, Pollution makes your lungs stronger because they have to breath harder!

  9. Ok, so environmentalists are the target for

insults and ridicule?  when all we want to do

is live on a clean and healthy earth and have

    enough food/water/air for everyone.

If you want pollution, just don't clean your

house or wash your clothes, but don't badmouth the people who are trying to make

the world a better place to live in.

  10. To exist is to create pollution. No pollution requires no people.

I do not agree that I should be dead.

  11. Your assumption -- that no economists are environmentalists and no environmentalist are economists -- is mistaken.  There is vast diversity in opinions and suggested solutions being tried and applied.  This is not a black/white issue, and your trying to position it as such shows a severe lack of education in both environmentalism and economics.  The two fields of study overlap.
