We're doing mock legislation in Government class and got on the topic of various places "going green". We were wondering approximately how much it would cost for a school (of say, about 2, 000 students) to go green.

  1. They could possibly save money in the long run, if done correctly.

  2. It depends on what you mean by "going green."  Going green usually means conserving resources, so it should save money, not cost money.

    1.  Turn off the heater/air condition and open the windows and doors instead.  This will save a bunch of money on electricity.

    2.  Tell the students not to flush after using the urinals.  This will save water.

    3.  Tell everyone not to wash their hands anymore.  This will save water too.

    4.  Don't let anyone use the parking lot or busses any more.  Tell everyone to walk or use nonmotorized vehicles, like bicycles.

    5.  Don't mow the lawn.  Don't put any chemicals on the lawn.  Only water the lawn a minimal amount to prevent fires.   This will allow bugs and therefore birds to use the lawn.

The list goes on!  Notice how none of this costs any money!
