Eoin Morgan doubtful for England’s Test squad, Steven Finn in favour – Cricket News Update
Following the final match of their series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 will be turning their attention to the longer format of international cricket, in order to prepare for the numerous Test series they have scheduled before the World T20 later this year.
The national side is due to fly out to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in July this year.
The selectors are due to announce the team for the upcoming fixtures against the Lankans on Tuesday morning, and while coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032’s inclusion in the squad.
Flower claimed that while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morgan-c77707 had had some successes in the past, he was having a “tough tour of the UAE.”
“I think his record would suggest he's found Test cricket pretty tough. I think he's averaging about 30, so he's got some work to do in that regard,” Flower commented.
Morgan’s UAE series has been exceptionally disappointing, with the left-handed batsman finding it difficult to tackle the Pakistani spinners, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 and Abdur Rehman. He has been caught leg before wicket 5 times in the series, thrice by Ajmal, once
by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898. In addition, his highest score has not risen above 31.
However, the coach was all praises for Steven Finn, whom he predicted would go on to play a good deal of Test cricket for England.
“It's been really nice to see Finn perform as he has done … he's quite a mature young man, and he's a genuine wicket-taker.”
The medium-fast bowler claimed 13 scalps in the 4-match ODI series, and has taken 4 wickets in two innings in the T20 series so far.
“He's been performing that role for us in the limited-overs stuff - and because of it, he'll be pushing hard for Test selection as well. There's no doubt he will play Test cricket - and quite a lot of it, I'd think,” Flower said.
