Eoin Morgan named as replacement for Kevin Pietersen in the ICC World Cup 2011
The English batsman, Eoin Morgan, has been finally selected as the replacement for Kevin Pietersen in the current ICC World Cup 2011. Kevin Pietersen has been forced out from the English squad, as he has been diagnosed with a hernia and has been sent back
home for the treatment of this injury.
Morgan, who was planning on cheering for English Premier League side Manchester United's fixture with Marseille next week, got a surprise call to replace Pietersen in the England squad for the tournament.
However, Morgan is hopeful and composed, in spite of his absence from cricket since the final of the 2010-11 Ashes against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, due to a finger injury. Initially he was advised to undergo finger surgery, but surprisingly he recovered quicker than expected.
Morgan is now fit and ready to perform at his best in the ongoing event. He is thrilled and excited when he was called up in place of Pietersen.
England is facing yet another injury concern, as their application for Chris Tremlett to replace the injured Stuart Broad was approved. Although Morgan had to participate in a domestic cricket match, he said he had no qualms on missing out in the domestic
match for the World Cup. However, the team is expecting a great performance from Morgan in the middle-order of the team, as he has been listed at his favourite position, number five.
While talking about filling Pietersen’s shoes, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 are winning I don’t care how much expectation is put
on mine or anyone else’s shoulders. I know if I execute my plans, then what has happened in the past will continue.”
The English team has not lived up to expectations so far in the ongoing World Cup. With two of their veteran players out of the tournament and untested replacements joining the team so late, the English team will need to pull together quickly if they expect
to do well in the knock-out stages.
