Eom Hye Won, Jang Ye Na ensure their presence in Women’s Doubles semi-finals - Macau Open Update
Korea’s spirited shuttlers Eom Hye Won and Jang Ye Na showed consistency in their performance and moved forward to the semi-finals of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on November 30, 2012.
This Women’s Doubles quarter-final tussle pit them against Wang Pei Rong-Wen Kuo Yu of Chinese Taipei and both teams challenged each other for 30 minutes.
However, the Korean female shuttlers played with a positive approach and locked the honour with an impressive result of 21-12 and 21-9.
Hye Won and Ye Na started the ball rolling immediately in the opening game and maintained that rhythm all the way to final moments.
In first set of the match, they looked in sublime touch as the opposing team could not find any loop-hole in their strategy.
They established a strong grip over game by pocketing four consecutive points after 3-3. They did not drop their pace and doubled the lead in no time.
The Taipei shuttlers had no reply to their challengers’ attack and they remained busy just in returning their masterly crafted strokes.
Pei Rong and Kuo Yu finished first half of the set with a notable deficit of six points and failed to end their rivals’ dominance in latter part of the game.
On the other hand, Hye Won and Ye Na made the best out of this psychological edge and mounted pressure with a 15-6 margin.
They did not allow their competitors to catch them on the points table and registered an overwhelming score of 21-12.
The Korean players started the second set with an aggressive approach and kept Pei Rong-Kuo Yu under control.
They dominated the overall pace of the rallies and established an unassailable lead with 7-1 total. This early advantage helped them to place a significant figure of 11 before the interval.
After the one-minute break, Hye Won and Ye Na injected more intensity in their attack and confined the opposing team in the rear court.
At first, they raised their lead to 12 points and then sealed a straight-set victory with 21-9 margin.
Now their next challengers will be Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth-Rizki Amelia Pradipta of Indonesia in the semi-final round.
