Epalahame Lauaki departs from Hull FC- Rugby League News
Epalahame Lauaki, along with Ewan Dowes, Cameron Phelps, Danny Washbrook has confirmed his exit from the Hull FC today, September 19, which is just a day after their Super League Elimination Play-off against Rhinos Leeds, at Headingley.
This Sunday Hulls faced a massive 10-42 defeat against Leeds, which has brought an end to their Super League campaign for this year. All four players will depart from
KC Stadium, after they have failed to bag new deals for the upcoming season with the Hulls.
The 30-year-old veteran, Dowes, had a long successful run of nine years at the KC Stadium, which took off in 2003 from Leeds. During his stay at the hulls he has earned the honour of making 200 appearances for the club.This was coupled with the Challenge
Cup title in 2005, Grand final 2006 and 2008 Cup final.
Washbrook ended his six-year stint at the club today too.This news was not fully absorbed by all when his much expected signing with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats was confirmed, later today.
In February 2009, Lauaki joined in with Hulls wheras Phelps had just filled in place of Jordan Tansey almost six months ago.
The news about the quartet’s depature was broken to the masses through Twitter, which a social networking website.
"That was officially my last game for Hull FC last night. It's been an awesome nine years, gutted to be leaving. Gonna miss the lads and fans."
Similar twitter status updates were made by other outgoing players too.
Later,in the official statement from Hull, made by chief executive James Rule, the news about Laukin was also broken to the public.
The chief executive, began with thanking his players from their valuable contribution to the club, whilst their stay at Hull FC. The statement read, "I would like to thank all the players for their contribution to the club during their time at Hull
FC, both on and off the field. It is always a difficult time to see players leaving, particularly those like Ewan and Danny who have been here for some time, however, that is the reality of professional sport, especially our sport that requires the management
of a salary cap.On behalf of everyone connected with the club we wish all the players well in their endeavours in their future careers."
Prior to the official confirmation from Hulls, the news about Laukin’s link to Wigan Warriors was creating waves in the world of rugby league. Ewan is also expected to join Washbrook as the future Wakefield player, under the flagship of their Hulls’
coach, Richard Agar.
