Epic Endurance Cycling Team launches new team: Gear Movement, for the 2012 season
The Epic Endurance Cycling Team that made its debut performance in 2011 is launching another team for the season ahead. The proposed team’s name is The Gear Movement / Epic Pro Cycling Team, which will focus mainly on the cross country races.
The new team will target the mountain bike national championships, US Pro XCT series, the Windham round of UCI World Cup and the mountain bike national championships.
Epic Endurance Cycling Team had an impressive start of its career. It made a successful podium appearance at 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo earlier in February, 2011.
The team is full of enthusiasm as Bill Wheeler, the team’s Owner and Director, also races along with the squad.
Anthony Thornton, Les Handy and Brandon Newcomer are close friends of Bill and also ride for the side.
The team was launched in 2011 using a different model and structure than most of the other cycling teams. It mainly comprises entrepreneurs and businessmen who have the skills and are interested in the sport.
Team Gear Movement’s successful first year has motivated the organisers and Team Director Bill Wheeler to take the brave decision of introducing a new team.
Bill stated, "Our organization had a very strong first year that was made successful with the solid support from our partners, so we felt this was a good time to launch the new team".
The new team will incorporate the strengths of Chris Baddick and Sam Morrison from the Epic Endurance team. Former Cannondale rider, Bryan Alders will also support Team Gear Movement in the season ahead.
Wheeler briefed, "(Deidre) York been racing for almost 11 years and at the age of 21, has quite a bit of experience in the sport. As a junior, she went to the 2008 world championships in Val di Sole, Italy, and finished in a solid 33rd position".
The 2012 Gear Movement/ Epic Pro Cycling Team will have a total number of five cyclists in its squad. Chris Baddick, Jason Hilimire, Bryan Alders, Sam Morrison and Deidre York will represent the newly formed team in 2012.
Only time will tell what the new season has in store for the squad, meanwhile the riders are looking forward to a good start in 2012.
