My son was born feb 10, and I got a epidurl. Is it normal for my back to still hurt in that area were the needle went in. Like when I move or bend over. just in that area. And it still gets a scab over it like it just happened.

  1. I think so, the area where I had mine was sore for months afterwards, and I still have a little bump where it was, and that was over three years ago. Just get your b/f or husband or mother to look at it once and a while to make sure it doesn't look infected. If you're really consierd then go to your doc, I did and my doc told me mine was fine and normal.

  2. No that doesnt sound normal.. You should go get it checked out..

  3. Back pain is not common with a epidural, but it is common with childbirth, I would talk to your doctor about it.  After my first child I had terrible back pain and I went to therapy for it.  With my second Born March 14,2008 I have been luck and had no back pain.  I did have a epidural with both.

  4. Prolonged back pain is not an uncommon complication of an epidural.  It isn't 'normal' so see your doctor. (I'm not sure what, if anything can be done about it, but the doctor should know.)

  5. I dont think it is normal, however thats only because im comparing it to my experience! I would get it looked at just to know for sure! Did you mention this to your midwife?
