Question:

Epilepsy - Can you bring on a seizure?

I feel like I'm constantly going to have a seizure, but is that just in my head? Can thinking about a seizure, and the feeling prior, cause one to happen? I can't figure out if I'm just worrying about it and think it's uncontrolable when that's not the case.

I still haven't found a balance with my medication so I have one every once in a while. Im afraid to go in public in fear of it happening.

Please help someone.

  1. You may be experiencing one of two things:  (1) A seizure aura, which never develops into a seizure, or (2) a seizure.

You are doing a great job so far.  You and your doctors will find a way to control your seizures...you just need to be patient.  Don't be afraid to venture out, though.  Go with a friend.  Better you should have a seizure in public than a broken heart.

Redbird: not all seizures are caused by lights.

    All the best.

  2. You probably already know that flashing lights, especially red ones, can bring on a seizure.  Maybe you are unaware of your surroundings and there are seizure triggers lurking.  Check out the lighting and other triggers.  Maybe you can avoid them until your meds are adjusted.

  3. I'm eplieptic too and sometimes feel I am going to have one but I ignore it because I want to get on with my life. If I take my medication I don't have seizures.

Have you had a seizure from these feelings yet? How long have they been going on for?
