Question:

Epiphone Dot or Aria TA40?

I'm in the market for a budget semi-acoustic guitar for learning jazz and blues. These two guitars seem to be the main contenders in my price bracket.

Which one would you go for?

Thanks

Martin

  1. Hey Martin

Aria is a good guitar and it's funny that you mention it. I worked 17 years in the wholesale of musical instrument and we were the main supplier in Canada.

As for the Epiphone, it looks and feels like the Es-335. Being a short scale guitar, blues style bends are easier, and the stop tailpieces allows comfortable right-hand palm muting styles.

The guitar has lots of tone and even before plugging it in, it sound pretty loud and it astonished me.

I would go for this because it looks much more expensive than what they are asking and I am sure people will think you paid a load of money for it.

The finish is very nice, the action is actually better than the real Gibson Es-335.
