i gave birth 3 weeks ago and as my baby was 10lbs 3oz i had to have an episiotomy. i was stitched up afterwards and my stitches came out after about 2 weeks but the cut is still open slightly, it isnt painful and is clean but im worried it wont close up now the stitches are out. will it heal itself closed or will it just stay open (but healed) has this happened to any of you before? thanks

  1. Well if I were you I would call your doctor and tell him what's up. He may want to put a stitch or two in. You never want to mess up anything down there.

  2. i had this problem , my scar hadn't healed so my midwives took a swab and they sent swab off to see what antibiotics i needed, but they prescribed me antibitotics they thought they would be, and made sure when results came back i had taken the right ones!

  3. This happened to me and it turned out I had an infection.  Go to your doctor asap as you may need antibiotics.  Other than that, they just tell you to keep it clean and let the air get at it for about an hour each day (difficult I know but worth it!)  MIne closed up totally after about 6 weeks.  Do your pelvic floor exercises - they increase blood flow to the area and this promotes healing.  Good luck!

  4. Sweetie, please go to your Dr and have this checked out.

  5. If it isn't all the way closed, the stitches should not have been taken out.

Perhaps, give your OBGYN a call, can't hurt.

    Good luck.
