Epson DX8450 Set up

Question

The set up procedure I have followed to the letter but it will not print.

I have tried:

different USB ports
Two different cables
switching off the MS Firewall
Every time I get the message "Printer not ready to print" yet it switched on and as readsy as it will evre be from whatI can see. There are no pieces to be removed such as travel packaging etc

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong and/or how I can get it to work. It is brand new straight from the shop.
