okay i just installed a eq by myself proudly and it works. it has to be on in order for my subs to play. but when i try adjusting the lower frequencies, it barely makes any difference. if i have to change the settings on my built in crossover on my amp, what do i do.

  1. Money fixes everything! Now get out there and spend more of it!

All kidding aside, try playing some music that you wouldn't normally listen to and see if any of your adjustments make any difference.

Classical music covers the entire sound spectrum. My personal preferance would be Symphony by Sarah Brightman. Gothica/ Fleurs Du Mal will blow you straight through the windshield when the orchestra kicks in full force!

If it doesn't, keep adjusting or start returning components. Don't waste time on parts that don't work.

  2. there are several things that you can do.

first, pump a lil higher the "low pass", and try messin with the sub sonic filter if your amp has these options.

my guess will be that your low pass filter is too low. this means, the subwoofers only will get very very low frequencys only. most songs do not use them. there for, the higher the low pass is, the more frequencys the subs will play.

another thing to check is, make sure your RCA's on the eq are in the correct slot, the one for subwoofers only.

also, check your stereo settings. some come with a low pass filter too. just kick it up a little higher and things should be fixed now.
