Equalizing your ears in S.C.U.B.A. diving!!??

My mom's family has a history with messed up ears and I'm worried when I scuba dive they won't Equalize. What do I do?

  1. Your scuba instructor will help you learn, but basically, hold your nose and blow.

    Go down a little - hold nose and blow to clear.

    Go down a litte more - repeat.

    If you can't get your ears to clear, go up a little.

    Scuba instructors will be very aware and make sure you are OK during the decent.

    They will teach you hand signals so that you can tell them you are OK or not.


  2. practice at the bottom of a deep swimming pool, hold your nose and try to blow through it until you hear a squeaking noise, if it hurts go back to the surface, then try again until you get used to it. I hope I helped!
