I have been riding for 5 years, and am taking the basics of Dressage. I would love to go to an equestrian High School on the East Coast. If you know of one please let me know. It will be one more year, but I will freak if i find on in my area! Also if you find a college that would be nice! I am totally focused on my future, and only in 7th grade!! ha-ha ya but i love horses till the death. and would love to get into some big 3- day eventing competitions and would like to train as much, and soon as possible!!

  1. Findlay College would prob be the absolute best... but Delaware Valley and Penn State also have very competive teams.

  2. This is the school I recommended on another similar post:

Dana Hall School. It is an all girls boarding school in Wellesley, MA with an international reputation and a very nice riding program. Another plus is that its close to the Dover Saddlery store if you need anything quick! With a school that has a barn right on the property you can bet they can direct you to great riding programs for college too.

  3. Try googling "equestrian high school," I'm sure you'll find something you might be interested in.

As for college, check out Zinch.com.  I used it to narrow my college choices.  I'm looking for a college that has both an Equine Business degree and an equestrian team, which is actually pretty rare, most have one or the other.  I started out with over 200 results, got it down to about 25, then 13, and now 5.  There are a lot of really great equestrian schools listed on there you could look at.

Keep it up, sounds like you're gonna be really successful!

  4. the school with the most wins in collegate jumping & dressage in virginia intermont in bristol va. they only do english and dressage but have a great program. Findley is prob the best all around horse school though in findley Oh and really take you from beggining to end in all things horse. the best thing i can tell you is also to look into a regular 4 year degree as well. in the horse would you have to consider injury and economy and have a back up plan if either one gets to bad.  I would look into maybe a double major in equestrian studies and something else so you are prepared regardless of where life takes you

I went to The Grier School in Tyrone, PA.  I had a great time, got a great education and rode for my phys ed.

Edit:  Hey... all girl schools aren't bad.  It gives you the chance to be you without worrying what you look like all the time.  You could roll out of bed, no make up and go to class and no one cared! We still had plenty of contact with guys...Just didn't have to contend with them during class!

  6. Stoneleigh Burnham High school in Greenfield, MA has a very strong riding program, although the downside (well for me anyways!)  is that it is an all girls school.

  7. In Ma they have the "Aggies".  Norfolk County Agricultural High School, Essex County Agricultural High School, and Bristol County Agricultural High School.  They are set up by the county if you live in one of those counties or near one of those counties you can go there instead of you town public high school.  I went to Norfolk,  i was not to impress with the equine program, being a serious rider before i went there,  there just wasn't enough time to give every one attention.  But it was free and beat going to a regular public school.
