Question:

Equine study abroad/internship?

Does anyone know of any interesting internships or study abroad opportunities in South America where I could work on a horse ranch or farm? I am currently in college and working on a degree in animal sciences with a minor in Spanish. Ideally, I would like to find something that would give me an opportunity to be in a Spanish-speaking country for an extended period of time (to better my speaking skills) and also allow me to experience what it would be like to work with horses all the time. I have minimal riding experience, but I am very confident around horses and good at handling them on the ground. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. If you know Spanish, maybe try going over to Spain? I think you'd find a lot more opportunities over there than in South America. Heck, you could even help out with the Spanish Riding School! (Hah, just kidding... or not! Seriously, look into seeing if you could be a groom or something for the SRS.)
