Hi there, I have a weird question. How many points do the judges usually rate your ride out of at equitation competitions on the flat and jumping?

  1. it depends the usual score is about 75 if your trip and flat faze are really nice you could get an 80's they would have to be amazing if your horse does one of the 3 r's then u get an atomatic 40(bad) the 3 r's are rail rot(trot) refusal if your horse misses a lead ull prob get a 55 missed distances depending how many are usually 60's it is almost impossble to get higher than a 90 people have gotten 87's before but the judge was scoring high that is for a combined class thats not for an acual like divson  it's a scale for like the maclay not the 12-14 equ. divson

  2. They don't. you start at zero for each maneuver, with zero being average, and then move up or down accordingly. If you perform the move well, you may get a plus one or one half, and if you do badly, you get negative points. the highest score at the end wins the class, and then on down.
