Erasing a background on Paint Shop Pro X2?

I have tried and tried and tried to erase the background on my picture. I've used the background eraser tool and the lasso tool and it just makes it very, very messy. Any tips?

Tubing is a very touchy task.  I know how frustrating it can get that's why I don't do it lol but I have done it in the past and these tutorials have helped me out.

With the freehand selection tool, I tend to use about 3 for feathering.
