hey there :O)

I'm going to Lyon and then Valencia next year (a semester in each) for my Erasmus year.. but I just wondered.. because I do 2 languages and am not in one country for a whole year will be at a big disadvantage and will I struggle in my final year?

What kind of level can I expect to be at by then?

  1. That depends on your current level and your personal ability to acquire a second language. Hopefully, a semester will be enough for you. In any case, it's a wonderful opportunity and you shouldn't worry too much about your languages. Try to speak your target language (I'm guessing French and Spanish) as much as you can, hang out with native students, go out and enjoy your experience. It's all about the experience, so take advantage of it and learn as much as you can.

  2. Well...neither language will be at the same level as for a student who's spent all year speaking just one foreign language. But then your second language will be much better than theirs, since you've had an extra six months over them. Not really sure what the issue is here.
