Eredivisie News: VVV-Venlo 0-4 vs. Roda JC Kerkrade – Analysis (Part 2)
Roda JC are at impressive 5th position and it is expected that if they continue their impressive form, they might be able to feature in the Champions League next season. Roda JC have accumulated 32 points so far.
However, the same cannot be said about VVV-Venlo as they are 17th in a league of 18. Therefore, well in the relegation zone.  It is quite plausible now that they are going to be relegated this season with just 10 points
to sum up with at the moment.
VVV-Venlo had the advantage in the match as the match was being played at their home ground, De Koel, but Roda JC were unaware of any such implications as they strode in and simply came out with a victory, all with clever play.
The first goal of the match came with the help of Willem Janssen in the 3rd
minute and all h**l broke loose after that for VVV-Venlo as they were unsuccessful in containing threats by Roda JC.
First blood was soon followed by Laurent Delorge’s goal in the 22nd minute and then came the stunner from Mads Junker in the 30th minute. After this goal, VVV-Venlo went into a completely defensive mode as
they tried to posses the ball for longer periods.
Hence, both teams played grounded balls and the passing ratio increased. This eventually led the game to become stagnant by the end of the half as both teams went to their locker rooms thinking of how to make a comeback and the
other of how to penetrate all men in the box.
At the start of the 2nd half, VVV-Venlo manager Jan van Dijk used two of his substitutions to simply increase the defence by deploying two more defenders. This had an immediate effect resulting in the tempo of the game
to be further slowed.
With the game becoming downright dull and boring one began to wonder if there would be anything to see. In the middle of the 2nd half a midfield battle broke out and all of a sudden wingers from both teams were leading
balls in and crosses were flying in.
While the ball was being turned over by VVV-Venlo, Roda JC were fully utilizing their offensive tactics and that resulted in another goal by Mads Junker in the 80th minute. This was his second goal.
The typical last moments of the match caused a flurry of action and both teams received chances to score in the dying minutes of the game, but the score line remained the same.
There were no red cards in the match though there were two yellow cards by VVV-Venlo: Ahmed Musaab in the 43rd minute and in the 50th minute by Balazs Toth. On the other hand, Roda JC got just one yellow card
and it was slapped onto Arnaud Sutchuin-Djoum in the 86th minute.
The majority of the possession was with Roda JC and so were their shots on goal and on target and with it they simply outclassed their opponents. The end score of the match was VVV-Venlo 0-4 Roda JC.
