Goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-van-Mosselveld-c14107, Robert Braber and Rick ten Voorde scripted an easy win for the Eredivisie newcomers.
On Eredivisie match-day 19, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VVV-Venlo-c40915 at Mandemakers Stadion on Sunday, January 29.
Goint into the game, VVV were brimming with confidence owing to their 2-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam on January 22.
However, the home side shattered their confidence early in the match with impressive play on the pitch. RKC consistently threatened the visitors’ back-line without inflicting any damage.
VVV defender Ismo Vorstermans, who had an impressive outing against the Rotterdammers, was having a nightmare of a game. The 22-year-old collided with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 Braber in the 28th minute, suffering a bloody nose, before bringing down Krisztian Nemeth
in the box. The referee had no option but to award a spot-kick to the hosts.
Evander Sno coolly converted the resulting penalty to make the score-line 1-0. In the 31st minute, Vostermans was substituted with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ferry-de-Regt-c13713, but the change dented the visitors further, as Frank van Mosselveld headed home from a free-kick
to double the Waalwijk outfit’s lead.
The outfit from Venlo tried to pull one back in the remaining action of the opening half but never really managed to create anything of note going forward.
After the half-time break, RKC continued to impress on the pitch and controlled the game. However, they failed to further extend their lead until the 80th minute.
VVV lost the ball in the midfield and Braber was quick to pounce on the loose ball before hitting the back of the net, beyond the reach of the visitors’ goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dennis-Gentenaar-c10917.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rick-ten-Voorde-c31121’s strike in the injury time put icing on the cake, as the Venlo outfit yet again conceded possession in the midfield. Moments later, the referee blew the final whistle to end proceedings at Mandemakers Stadion with the score-line reading
4-0 in favour of the home side.
The impressive victory came only a week after RKC were on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede at De Grolsch Veste on January 21.
All three points ensured that the Waalwijk outfit climb up in the league standings and away from the danger zone to occupy the 14th spot, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
VVV will now lock horns against SBV Excelsior on February 4 while RKC will travel to Euroborg Stadion to battle against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 on February 5.
