  1. It's easy.

    ABCDEFG and it continues.

C is the one before the 2 black notes.

F is the one before the 3 black notes.

The rest are easy to work out.

When you get to G, it goes ABCDEFG|ABCDEFG|ABCDEFG

Check out some videos on Youtube, just type in " note tutorials."

Oh, I see what you mean.

Do you know about bass clef and treble clef?

    This is the Treble clef:

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

This is always on the top of the stave.

    The bass clef is this:

    http://www.musicalpleasures.co.za/bassCl...

This is always on the bottom of the stave.

Now, the Treble clef is always played with your right hand, whilst the bass clef is played with the left.

The notes on the LINES of the TREBLE clef are:

    F

    D

    B

    G

    E

A way to remember this is:

    F - Food

    D -  Deserves

    B  - Boy

    G  - Good

    E   - Every

The notes in the lines are obviously:

    E

    C

    A

    F

(Which you can remember by your 'face' reading from the bottom to the top of the staff.

The bass clef is slightly different:

    A

    F

    D

    B

    G

A way to remember this is: Good bicycles don't fall apart.

(Reading from the bottom to the top.)

In between the lines on the bass clef are:

    G

    E

    C

    A

A way to remember this is:

    All cows eat grass.

Of course, it takes a lot of practice, but once you know it, it is pretty easy to remember and follow.

A great site to download sheet music to practice with is:

    http://www.free-scores.com/free-sheet-mu...

    I'd also recommend:

    www.pianofiles.com

But you need to have sheets to trade with first.

    Good luck!

  2. Sight reading comes with practice. Your Nan was talking you up since you know the notes, but its their positions on the stave that foxes you. Keep practising, and study your theory too. It'll come. Good Luck.
