Eric Boullier: Renault plan private Formula 1 test for Robert Kubica in Autumn – Formula 1 news
Renault boss Eric Boullier has revealed that they have planned a private Formula 1 test for their injured driver Robert Kubica in the Autumn, in which Kubica can evaluate his fitness for the sport following a rally accident back in February 2011.
Apart from that, Boullier informed that Kubica is recovering quickly from the injuries that he sustained in the accident. Kubica was taking part in a rally event in Italy when he crashed his car just weeks before the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. The
Polish driver suffered many injuries in the horrific crash and almost lost his right hand in the process.
Talking to reporters, Boullier said, “We often talk to Robert. He feels fine, but the restoration of damaged nerves, always takes time. I think by the end of the summer he will begin the final phase of rehabilitation. Then it will become clear when we can
expect his return.”
He went on to mention, “We have planned them [private tests] in the fall [autumn].”
There was rumour about the Kubica that he will take part in the 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix, but the injured driver refused to comment on the speculation. He said that he has not fully recovered from the injuries after the crash, so he cannot take any decision
for the Brazilian race weekend at the moment.
Despite that, the 26-year-old driver is hopeful of taking part in the 2012 Formula 1 season, as he believes he will recover from the injuries before the start of the next season.
Recently, Renault stated that their R31 car is waiting for Kubica, as they are sure he can get better results for them whenever he makes a return to the sport.
The team driver Nick Heidfeld will lose his race seat at Renault, whenever Kubica re-joins the Enstone-based outfit.
